Names and Faces

At St Levan we began in a modest way by asking some local residents who might have an interesting story to tell. That quickly snowballed so that soon a good many people were presenting themselves as potential interviewees. If you’re starting to talk to the people in a community that you know well then, of course, there’ll be no trouble identifying names and characters. A notice in the village shop, the church, or the parish noticeboard is another good way to communicate. Remember, it is important that your project and its aims are widely known in the community to encourage participation and understanding - so spread the word!

Write a little story for the local newspaper, or speak to the local radio station, explaining what your group organisation is trying to do and put a contact name and number.

Prepare a leaflet or flyer and distribute it around the community – here in St Levan the milkman is extremely co-operative!
