3 May 2001: MGM 2001 Free late night opening of the museum on 18 MayNews Release - 3 May 2001Free late night opening - MGM 2001 - Friday 18 May As part of Museums and Galleries month, the Museum of Submarine Telegraphy at Porthcurno will be having a special FREE late opening on 18th May. Visitors will be able to visit the museum and exhibitions free of charge from 5pm - 9pm with the last admission at 8.30pm. In addition to free admission for the evening, at 7pm there will be an illustrated talk about the history of the telegraph station by the Curator Mary Godwin. Museums and Galleries month is organised by The Campaign for Museums. It aims to promote museums as centres for culture, learning and community activity. Each year a different theme is chosen and this year's theme is 'museums and galleries as meeting places'. In connection with this theme, local residents may be interested to know that the museum at Porthcurno has a meeting room which can be made available for community use.
