St Levan Community History at Porthcurno

The museum is a focus for research into the history of the parish of St Levan. There is a local history research centre run by part-time staff and a team of local volunteers. There is a large collection of old photographs of life in the parish, documents and artefacts many of which are on permanent display.

A group of more than 20 local people were involved in researching, writing and compiling The Book of St Levan which was published by Halsgrove in October 2005, price £19.95. Altogether 12 chapters covering such topics as farming, fishing, education, transport, the telegraph station and even the Minack Theatre, look at the gentle pace of life and social changes in the parish over the last 100 years or so.

Visitors to the museum can see fascinating displays of photographs and objects collected from the parish. The setting up of St Levan Community History centre was funded by the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund.
