The Synchroniser

The Synchroniser

Slide 1
Photo of Synchroniser

The Synchroniser was the most essential part of the regeneration process, since it corrected timing errors between the transmitting and receiving stations.

Slide 2
The Synchroniser compared the pulse rate from the incoming signal with the pulse rate from the Interpolator.

Diagram showing relationship between Synchroniser, Fork Relay and Interpolator.

It then either slowed down or sped up the local pulse rate so that the Interpolator kept transmitting signals at the same speed that it was receiving them from the Fork Relay.
