dot dot dash presents new media work by Kitty Wingate, Jacqueline Knight and Oliver Sutherland in response to the technology, science and archive of the Porthcurno Telegraph Museum.

The Porthcurno Telegraph Museum is a unique centre for the study of early international communications. The underground museum sits in a series of tunnels built into the granite cliffs during the Second World War to protect the telegraph station. The exhibition takes place in Eastern House next to the entrance to the museum tunnels.

From pigeons to the web, fibre optics to Morse code the potential of information relating to the museum has led to communication as the central focus. Morning till Night by Oliver Sutherland presents a collection of web cams, linked by their relation to the mystic, the mythological and the sublime. From left to right the live images are geographically placed from Hawaii to the Antarctic, west to east. The viewer is able to experience, live, ‘this morning' and ‘tomorrow morning' simultaneously, defying their physical location.

Kitty Wingate has appropriated and re-presented information and objects sourced from the museum and its archive. This work suggests alternatives and tangents to the weight of historical, technological and empirical perspectives presented in the museum.

To Me, To You, by Jacqueline knight is a Super 8 film installation, which relays a conversation of images tapped out in a Morse code rhythm. The film stock is pulled away from the machine to form a loop alluding to the submarine telegraph cables that carry our messages from one place to another.

This show is one of twelve shows that are currently taking place throughout Cornwall as part of More Cornwall. See www.morecornwall.org
