Giant tea party to celebrate 10 years of Porthcurno Telegraph Museum

Press release: April 2008 (PDF version, 27KB)

To mark its 10th anniversary, Porthcurno Telegraph Museum is throwing a Giant Tea Party for residents, friends and previous staff and making the museum FREE for the day.

Taking place on Saturday May 10 from 2pm to 4pm, the museum is holding the event in its gardens to thank the local community for its support over the last decade.

The afternoon is part of a number of events marking the milestone in the museum’s development.

A jazz night at the Minack Theatre also takes place on Saturday May 10 from 7.30pm, with all proceeds going to the Porthcurno Telegraph Museum education programme.

Museum director Libby Buckley said: "This is our way of saying thanks to the people who have helped us get to where we are today.

"Many people who used to work at Porthcurno when it was run by Cable and Wireless still live locally, so past staff, their friends and family are very welcome to join us."

A special exhibition, the Past, Present & Future of Porthcurno Telegraph Museum, opens on Saturday, May 10 and runs until the Autumn.
