Workshop information
We offer school groups a variety of workshop sessions related to electricity, telegraphy, the science of sound, communication, the Victorian era and WWII. Workshops include handling sessions, activities and museum trails. Sessions can be tailored to your particular curriculum needs, class size or year group.
There are also some outreach sessions available where the education officer will come to your school with objects from the collection which can be used to develop ideas concernng communication and literacy.
Teachers' Packs are provided when a workshop is booked. They contain information about the content of the session, background information and ideas for preparation and follow-up activities.
For schools at a distance, why not bring a group down to West Cornwall for a school summer camp? There are many things to do and accommodation available nearby. You could combine a workshop here with a trip to the Minack Theatre in the same valley or go to another heritage site in the vicinity. Ring for more suggestions.
Further information can be found on the workshop pages or by contacting Lesley Allen on (01736) 810592 or lesleyallen@porthcurno.org.uk

All workshops and outreach sessions have been planned and structured around elements of the National Curriculum.
Some activities have direct links with QCA Schemes of work while others draw on a variety of subjects in a cross-curricula way.
Teachers' packs will help in planning preparation work and follow-up activities.
