The Light Fantastic

This workshop is suitable for all ages and can be done in school or at the museum. It uses interactives, artefacts and images to investigate what light is, how it works, how we see things and some of the tricks that light can play. A fun workshop but also packed full of interesting facts and information that supports the science and DT curricula.

Sound science

This workshop is a fun way to investigate a number of difficult scientific concepts and uses demonstrations and hands-on sessions to illustrate the science of sound from simple sound waves to fibre optics and radio signals including vibrations, electricity, waves, magnets and light pulses. Pupils are encouraged to think about the uses of sound, how it can be generated, how it can be transmitted and the historical and modern technology associated with it.
The workshop includes a Museum trail which explains why there is an important communications centre in Porthcurno and its importance in the history of communications.
