Science sleepovers in our underground tunnels are available all year round and are an ideal alternative to school camps, especially during the winter months since all the activity can be either in the museum buildings or in the tunnels. If the weather is clear we can also use the grounds, beach or the viewing platform at the top of the escape stairs. Teachers can chose from a variety of workshops and activities to suit their pupils and curriculum area.
Pupils come after school on a Thursday and have a whole evening of activities before bedding down amongst the museum artefacts in the tunnels. After breakfast in the morning they have another activity session. The sleepover finishes at 10.00 am but for schools wanting to stay in the valley for the rest of the day suggestion for further things to do are provided and pupils’ bags etc can be left in the building until it is time to return to school.
The cost is £25 per child to include a light supper and breakfast. (Pupils need to bring a packed tea with them.)
