Basic Principles of Telegraphy Slide 1 Diagram showing relationship of Morse Key to Sounder. Slide 2 Diagram showing how it works How it works: A piece of wire is connected at one end to a battery and a switch at the other end of the wire is a receiving device (the Sounder) which will be triggered by the current when the switch closes the circuit When the circuit is closed, current generated by the Battery travels along the wire to the Sounder, making it 'click' Slide 3 To complete the circuit the receiving device has to be connected back again to the battery this could be achieved by having a return cable in this case the current returns to the battery via the earth. <Back |
