Testing a Cable |
Test Set The process of grappling and recovering a submerged cable to repair it was lengthy and expensive, and the problem was magnified unless the cable ship could quickly be directed to the precise location of the fault. 'Test Sets' like the one shown here were developed to do this. Photo of 'Test Set' Photo of Precision Standard Capacitor Capacitance was measured by comparison of discharge currents when comparing charges on the cable, and on a Precision Standard Capacitor. Photo of Wheatstone Bridge Resistance of the cable was measured by using a Wheatstone Bridge. Photo of Mirror Galvanometer Bridge balance, and magnitude of discharge currents were both indicated by a Mirror Galvanometer. <Back |
