2. Up the track

Follow the track up behind the Porthcurno Hotel. About 200 yards up on your left you will see a flat concrete base with a low box-like structure upon it. This was originally the base of one of the Second World War anti-aircraft guns positioned at Porthcurno. Later, it was also used by Porthcurno’s amateur radio enthusiasts as a base for their aerial in the 1960s. There is another former gun emplacement further up on the left.

From the top of this hill you can see across to the diamond-shaped telephone cable sign on the horizon above the beach. You can also see across to Castle an Dinas, an iron age hill fort and, at the end of this outcrop, the famous Logan Rock.
